The Vokoun Family wishes to honor Joe by offering a scholarship to students in the Environmental Science, Water & Occupational Safety programs and courses. He also volunteered at his church, serving as an usher for over 20 years. Joe was a Vietnam War Veteran and served in leadership positions at his local VFW post. Joe was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, and wonderful friend.

Joe’s exceptional safety efforts garnered Navistar’s Best Overall Manufacturing Safety award for fourteen consecutive years.Īfter devoting over forty years of service to Navistar, Joe transitioned to semi-retirement by starting his own consulting business, conducting safety audits and offering his expertise to various corporations. Starting off as a part-time guard at the manufacturing facility in Melrose Park, IL, Joe attained a bachelor’s degree in business administration and progressed in his career to Loss Prevention and Safety Manager.
